Global Fisheries, Seafood Sourcing, and Sustainability

Providing businesses the flexibility and reinforcement to successfully navigate the sustainability landscape.

Jessica McCluney has been closely involved in fisheries and seafood for the past 15 years from serving as a federal observer aboard Alaskan fishing vessels to publishing research on the socioeconomic sustainability of global tuna fisheries, to corporate sustainability and procurement at two large North American seafood companies, to starting and running her own business sourcing and supplying local households with sustainable seafood from 2018-2020. Jessica remains an independent contractor in the corporate seafood sustainability landscape with both the private sector and NGOs, as well as public universities such as the University of Washington.

Jessica has worked onsite with harvesters, processors, fishery managers, aquaculture producers, public relations & branding firms, and research institutions across 6 continents in her career span. She is currently a member on the board of This Fish, a Canadian seafood software company.

Yes I can.  I have experience successfully resurrecting inactive or failing FIPs, as well as beginning new ones.  Contact me to discuss the fisheries that need to meet your sustainability requirements.
The right type of engagement goes a long way. Aside from coordinating social audits required by various customers, I have also represented companies and participated in international social/labor initiatives. Let's definitely connect if you're daunted by the current discourse.
I have worked countless hours with seafood companies' IT personnel to design, jerry-rig, or bridge software systems in order to have the correct sustainability attributes track out the door.  Reach out to relay your specific technical challenges.
